Dear February,

28 days is not enough.

Big accomplishment this month. I bought a camera. I'm loving it, not loving my lens, dreaming about a new one. Starting tomorrow, I'll be posting pictures daily as practice for my internship and some fresh work for my portfolio. I just made a promise. To the internet. Gulp. Also this month, I'll be researching web hosting. Looking for a simple site to house my portfoilo. Please send me your recommendations if you have any.

Cheers, C

A little self-love.

These are the things I love.

I love taking photos, especially photos of the people I love the most. My family, close friends, sometimes strangers. I love seeing and being around people that are happy, hearing stories about what makes them happy and even overcoming what has made them sad. I love all the smallest things in life, a morning coffee date via phone with a girlfriend on the other coast. A homemade meal with my roommate/lover. Finding a great parking spot. Going for a long run. Checking all the errands off my to-do list.

Today I made a deal with myself. Much more of this in 2010.

Tilth and other good things.

Long time, I know. I've been quite busy the last couple of weeks. I'm in the third week of my internship and today I will be assisting a photoshoot at this amazing Seattle restaurant.

Last week I was trained on the postproduction workflow of my mentor. Adobe, I am humbled. I've also started working a little more with DSLR's and I'm happy to report that I'm completely in love and am in the market for a new camera. Any suggestions?

There are too many secrets in this house.

Like the gifts I'm hiding for Adam, in the closet, in my vacant shoes and underneath the sink.

The Christmas of 1995 when I was 11 and my brother Ryan was 9 we went on a treasure hunt. These hunts were almost better than the holiday itself, there was risk involved and there was a lot to lose. We had to be quiet, sneaky and meet at the bottom of the stairs at late hours with our flashlights. This was the year we found the temple of doom. In a few short days Ryan would be receiving an X Box 360 (new to the world of 1995) and I was to receive a karaoke stereo with a TV inside it!

We were caught. All the gifts went back to the store. My parents and Santa treated us to a few things, but they weren't the ones we had been salivating over all year.

Lesson learned: God damn it Adam, don't tell me my gifts are too big to wrap. Your almost ASKING for it.

(I promise I won't look. I promise I won't look. I promise I won't look...)

The things in the sky.

I've been in a bit of a funk lately, looking forward to:

1. Finishing the wrapping of all my homemade gifts.
2. Completing my admission process to Cornish.
3. Vacation and
4. The SNOW that will accompany vacation. (Please mother earth, let there be ridiculous amounts of snow.)
